Procedure are good. It’s important to document and track information. Scheduled marketing pieces being sent out and professionally designed websites are great too. But, the additional HUMAN component of everything, including when it comes to business – cannot be emphasized enough.

Check out today’s fast paced video where Dan makes the case for making ‘personal connection’ (HUMAN-izing for the purposes of this video) an important part of both the operations side and marketing side of your cleaning company. Then he gives practical examples of what this HUMAN-ized approach might actually look like in a real cleaning business, like yours.

A goal is a goal is a goal. Not true. All goals are not created the same. Some simply point, while others excite, motivate – inspire. Knowing what kind do the latter can make a big difference, not only in the ultimate results, but also in the energy, enjoyment and satisfaction felt each day in getting there.

Check out today’s fast paced video where Dan explains the difference between goals as simply targets versus those that can daily engage and inspire you and your team to willingly tackle even the toughest problems along the way to achieving the goal. Plus, he gives a practical example of a cleaning business goal that has the potential to not only point, but to actually inspire.

Some strategies are so valuable – they’re worth repeating. Today’s is one. You work so hard to find, attract, bid, land and staff a job. But, if you’re not careful, you can let lose some or all of the value of that new customer, simply by making this one mistake. I felt it was TOTALLY worth repeating. I hope you’ll agree.

Check out today’s fast paced video where Dan reminds everyone of a strategy so important from a growth, effort and money standpoint – in less than 2 minutes. Hope you don’t need reminding of the strategy, but if you do, it may be one of the most valuable messages you ever heard – repeated.

Check out today’s fast paced video where Dan shares what may be one of the most embarrassing nights of cleaning he and Tony ever had. It starts with ‘bleach’ and ends up with carpet changing colors from brown to yellow. It wasn’t good. ‘nuf said. You’ll want to hear this.

We all have them – eventually it seems. What is that? Don’t let them fool you. You see, while growing sales to the magical $1,000,000 a year figure can be a good thing – there’s no guarantees it will be. That’s right, a cleaning company doing half that figure can often be just as profitable, fun and satisfying to own and run. It all depends on ‘getting under the hood’ of the either business and seeing how the systems, people and profitability of each are ‘running’

Check out today’s fast paced video where Dan will explain why sales alone isn’t the key to having a fun, profitable and smooth running business. He’ll share the two ‘things’ that generally determine if a cleaning business owner is HAPPY - and how that happiness is fortunately quite possible to achieve in businesses doing much less than a million dollars in annual revenue.

Upset. Angry. Blaming. Fuming. There’s no shortage of challenging situations running a business where it can be easy to start having those kinds of reactions. But, that kind of ‘drama’ generally produces little more than a temporary way of ‘venting’ and can even rob us of getting things done – moving forward.

Check out today’s fast paced video where Dan explains how common yet unproductive nearly all of our ‘fuming’ is – and then an example in his own cleaning business where he and his business partner frequently experienced drama and venting - until they finally tried to stop it by ‘catching themselves’ when it was happening. For them, it can help just to recognize it – and try to shorten the time wasted in drama – as you move to eliminating it completely (or, at least - as much as possible).

It seems to be in the wrong order. But, it’s not. The counterintuitive truth is motivation often comes once we get moving; acting, making decisions – doing work, rather than beforehand.

Check out today’s fast paced video where Dan shares how important this philosophy of ‘getting moving first’ as a way to help create motivation is – and several situations in our businesses where it can apply. And, also how it can be a successful strategy for you and your team in many of the biggest challenges you face.
